Nursery

The nursery programme supports young children in all aspects of their learning. Our curriculum is guided by the framework of the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP) and influenced by inquiry philosophy. This approach supports play-based learning and creates an environment for children to develop social, communication, research, thinking, physical and self-management skills.

Our inquiry style play approach is essential for young children’s cognitive, social, emotional, physical and brain development. Through our carefully planned play, children construct meaning and define themselves as members of a learning community.

Through listening and observing our children closely, and documenting the process of their thinking and understanding, Lab Langban teachers document each child’s unique learning journey and regularly communicate it to their parents.

Kindergarten

In our Kindergarten classes, learning is a vibrant and engaging adventure, deeply rooted in the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (PYP). Moving beyond nursery, our students embark on purposeful inquiries that spark their natural curiosity and lead them to explore broad, globally significant themes. We believe in learning through hands-on experiences, play, and collaborative activities, empowering each child to question, investigate, and construct their own understanding of the world around them. Our classrooms are dynamic spaces where children are encouraged to be active participants in their learning, developing the critical thinking, communication, and social skills that will serve them throughout their educational journey.

Our kindergarten children enjoy active outdoor play and physical education which develops essential physical and social skills, and our spacious environment provides ample opportunities for exploration. Complementing classroom learning, regular field trips offer invaluable experiences which enrich their inquiries. Crucially, all of this unfolds within a supportive atmosphere built on close, caring relationships with our dedicated teachers, ensuring every child feels seen, valued, and ready to thrive.

Primary

Learning in the primary years grades is focused on developing international-mindedness. Our diversity is a strength that enriches the community, and our learning programme fosters intercultural understanding and appreciation. We place a strong emphasis on how students learn as well as what they learn. We value the development of the whole child in all areas of learning. Through inquiry-based learning, we aim for students to develop confidence in their own abilities, think for themselves, question, express their opinions and respect the opinions of others. Students are supported and nurtured in their social, emotional and physical development, as well as in their creativity, linguistic knowledge and skills within and across the subjects. We encourage students to take ownership of their learning, become critical thinkers and believe they can take action to make a difference in the world. Learning is designed to prepare them to become active, caring and thinking participants within a peaceful and sustainable future.

Central to our Primary Years Programme are the six transdisciplinary themes, which act as lenses through which our students explore significant global issues. These themes— "Who We Are," "Where We Are in Place and Time," "How We Express Ourselves," "How the World Works," "How We Organize Ourselves," and "Sharing the Planet"—ensure a holistic and interconnected learning experience, moving beyond traditional subject boundaries. Each theme encourages students to develop a deep understanding of concepts relevant to all humanity and the natural world, preparing them to make sense of, and engage with, complex global challenges.
